How to Use it - For the do it yourselfers, simply place the Filtro Max on the top portion of the oil filter. The Filtro Max can be used over and over again, so do not forget to tell your mechanic to remove it and replace it on your new filter with every oil change. For transmissions, place on the transmission pan a month before changing the fluid. For differentials, follow the same procedure as the transmission.

Transmission Differentional

Here's the science behind the Filtro Max, tests conducted by General Motors AC Delco Division on Detroit Diesel engines shows that an engine can last up to eight times its normal lifespan if contaminated particle size captured are within the 1 - 10 micron range, the range Filtro Max has been designed to capture. (See before/after pictures below)

Engine Wear
Ferrous (metal) particles are part of normal engine wear, but can become a serious abrasive on the polished surfaces of your engine, transmission or differential. The removal of these metal particles is the key to a longer lasting engine, transmission or differential. Wear Metals in your engine are as follows:

Cross-Section (Before) Cross-Section (After)

Understanding Contamination - The following metals are broken down in your engine:

Aluminum: pistons, bearings, housings, thrust washers, bushings

Chromium: compression rings, low friction bearings, liners, chromate cooling system

Copper: bearings, bushings, thrust washers, oil cooler, and clutches, oil additive

Iron: crankshaft, valve train, cylinders, gears, liner, and bearings

Lead: bearings, contaminant from leaded gasoline (automotive only)

Tin: pistons, bearings, and bushings

Silicon: Gasket sealant, antifreeze/coolant, road dirt

Nickel: Valve guides, crankshaft, camshaft, anti-friction/roller bearings

The Filtro Max will attract the ferrous damaging wear metals such as iron and steel. The properties of steel consist of: iron, carbon, manganese, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, copper, and silicon. In combination these non ferrous metals can be attracted and captured by the Filtro Max given the composition of steel.

Individual wear metals like aluminum, chromium, and copper that are non ferrous, will be carried and trapped by the Filtro Max by way of bound carbon deposits. These deposits can be seen on the cross sectioned filters found in the "Tell Us" section photos. Aside from the large metal particles, the black carbon you see inside the filter top is actually micro metal particles from metal to metal contact. These "cheerio" like metal deposits can only be removed with the power of the Filtro Max.

Save Your Transmission

The Transmission Rebuilders Association reports that 9 out of 10 transmissions fail due to over-heating, fluid contamination and metal to metal contact. Just like your cars engine, automatic transmissions suffer from heat, friction, contamination and metal to metal contact. Once the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) starts to degrade, vital parts begin to clog with sludge, varnish and metal contaminants. If a proper transmission fluid service is not done, serious malfunction or complete failure of the transmission can occur. Most never change the transmission fluid, or bother to service it in any way. This is where the Filtro Max can be most benefical to saving your transmission. Simply attach the Filtro Max to the transmission pan a month before the service. You see, if the wear metals in your transmission are not captured, they will slowly grind away at the internal components. So save your transmission as well as your engine. Now, what about your differential?

Save your Differential

Once again, the most common cause of front and rear axle failure according to the Transmission Rebuilders Association is metal to metal contact. The ferrous metal contamination destroys seals, bearings and gears. A differential does not have any form of filtration to protect the system. Thus, regular fluid exchange is vital to maintaining a well functioning system. Once again, the Filtro Max will save and extend the life of your differential by acting as a "filter" capturing ferrous metal contamination. Simply put the Filtro Max on your differential a month before service.
